Chevrolet/chevy 350 sm block timing

Question
After replacing some top end parts ie;dist. valvesprings pushrods and some others. I have the engine running but timining is a little off.This situation is different from the last question there isn't a sticker to go by to set the timing back to.

ok the harmonic balance has a line on it and the oil pan has a plate with some lines on it. the trimming should be around 6-8-or even 10 if the distributor is not it it right that that could be the condition , first pop the no # 1 plug and it should pop at t.d.c. look to see if it is close to t.d.c. if so move it by hand or push the fan belt so the mark is on t.d.c. than take off the dist. cap- now the rotor should be pointing at or on the no#1 plug spot on the cap- if not than the trimming is off or the dist. is in by a tooth off. PS UP TO 1975 !! !!!!!!!!!!! I will try with any others after that date. state up to 1975 but I still get 2006-007 etc. I guess you do not read this far ! !

All i can remember growing up is working on cars and making them loud and fast , and when i started to make money i would sink all of it into my cars so i could get them to go faster and look great. what else is there !I would love a challange to trouble shoot, as it is fun finding what is wrong when all others can not .ON the older cars not past 1975s , etc. so please I will try to help with the newer cars but do not grade me bad if I can not help your 2006 car.etc.
