Question
i need to know what might be the problem with a 2000 chevy caviler when the key was turned off while still in gear then the car was put in park and know when you put the key back in the key want turn

Answer
Hi Tony, There is a small cable that comes from the gearshift to the ignition switch mechanism to prevent it from being pulled out of park without the key being turned on. The mechanism is broken inside the steering columb, you have to take it apart to see wich part is broken. I hope this helps you. Regards, Keith.
