Chevrolet/collapsed hoses

Question
how can i tell if my water hoses on my car have collapsed.  I have a 1975 chevy caprice classic.  Thank you for your time

Answer
Van,
The bottom hose should have a spiraled metal rod sort of like a spring running through it, and these can occasionallt rust or break, and can be checked by pinching the hose from one end to the other. The top hose you can pinch at operating temp... you might want to use gloves as it's hot... and see if there are any weak spots. If you feel any weak spots in either hose they should probably be replaced.

Experience

I have been working on cars since I was eight, when I started handing my dad wrenches. I did my first complete rebuild at 14, and my first restoration at 16. When it comes to Chevy, if I don't know the answer off the top of my head, I can find it out fairly quickly. (My entire family is a bunch of gear heads.)
