Question
Just recently whenever the blazer is idle like when you start it or have to stop at a light it makes a sputtering sound and shakes really bad and acts like it is about to cut off. I haven't drove it for 2 days and when I started it up today it is much worse than before and the engine light is coming on. The blazer was bought from a friend over a year ago and all we've been doing to it where routine oil changes. The a/c doesn't work and when I got into it the other day when I first noticed the problem my boyfriend had drove it before and had the a/c turned on full blast. What could be the problem?

Thanks,
Misty

Answer
Hello Misty,
It could easily be a vacuum leak, and it could be related to the a/c controls.
I assume you turned the a/c controls off to see if it went away?

Plugs and wires could also cause it, as well as a sticking valve, or fuel problems.

I have been maintaining a fleet of approximately 55 light, medium and heavy vehicles for over 20 years. Most are 4X4 pickups and off road fire fighting trucks. Some medium duty trucks. Some military light trucks. I can answer most questions concerning 4X4 engine, drive line, suspension, electrical, and fuel, both diesel and gasoline. Ford, GM, and Dodge, old and new, but prefferably not newer than 99.
