Chevrolet Repair/1996 Cavalier Hesitation

Question
Hey Mark!

I have a 1996 Cavalier that just won't get up to speed. I don't believe it will accelerate beyond 15 MPH. It idles roughly, and acts as if the carburetor is not getting a good fuel feed; but, it does not have a carburetor. The fuel filter was checked and appears to be clean. I was told that there may be a problem with an electronic module. Someone else said the vehicle's computer. I don't know what to think, but I'm trying to get off as cheaply as possible. Please help!

Answer
Hi Eric, I really like to have the spec's on your car, engine is a 2.2 or 2.4. They are not the same.

I would first disconnect the exhaust at the manifold to make sure the system isn't plugged. Now drive the car !! If it runs good the cat is plugged. The cat-cons are the most likely problem when they act like yours.

Let me know what you find out
