Chevrolet Repair/ticking noice

Question
I have a 94 chevy pick-up.  When i turn my key on a ticking noice starts and lasts for about a minute.  It also does it when i turn my truck off.  It sounds like its coming from my fan motor.  But my heat and a/c works fine.

Answer
Hi Carroll....it could be the fan control relay, or even the fan, the brushes inside the fan could be making that noise as it slowes down and stops...the surface the brushes run on are slotted and could make a ticking sound as it shuts down...quick test would be to unplug the fan and see if the noise goes away...it won't hurt anything, just means that the brush surface is worn and may at some time in the future need to be replaced...hope this helps
