Subject: 03 monte carlo security light

Question
I have  2003 monte carlo.  the security light has been on for some time now.  the head lights and dome lights blink quickly.  I have removed the dome light relay.  the headlights will not blink as long as the manual switch is on.  the a/c compressor and cooling fans also do not function.  every once in a while the security light will not come on when you start the car.  on these rare occasions everything functions normally. the car runs fine, no stalling or hard starting what so ever. spent 300 dollars at the dealership to have them check for codes and say they couldn't find the problem, and maybe we need to buy new keyless entry fobs (the car was bought used didn't come with the remotes, the problem started about a year later).  I feel that maybe the bcm needs replaced. is there a way to bypass the security function? I don't want to spend any more money at the dealer for answers like they gave me.  any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Jesse... if it is factory installed system it is hard to bypass. i would think you have a wiring issue as the security system shouldn't affect your AC or cooling fan. somewhere in there you have a short thats why it comes and goes...i would suggest looking for wires melted together or connections that are corroded and shorting across the terminals...does this car have passlock 2 security...in other words does it have the chip in the key....if it does try getting new key...sometimes the key wears and doesn't make good contact completing the circut....couple places i would start looking, hope this helps
