MY kids have a 2003 tahoe and have been having trouble getting the correct fix.the air conditioner has been blowing not cool air for a while and  also making a funny noise when you try to run it.now that it is very hot we took it to sears for a look see . they gave it a charge and said it needed a new fan belt.and it seened yto work for about 100 miles or so then the belt flew off on the interchange.back to sears new belt ,everything working ,then same noise back......then no air at all, what do you think is wrong ?sears said they would pay for it if its their falt and to take it to chevy, chevy wants cash up front to even give a look .Please help my Grandchildren are suffering!

Answer
Hi Terry.... did they give you a reason why the belt flew off... check the belt tensioner...what kind of noise... is the clutch on the a/c compressor making the noise. or is it a squealing noise...check for belt alignment, maybe a bearing gone in an idler pully, does belt tensioner have enough tension...if A/C is fully charged then you should have air if compressor is engauging. i would take it to a place that specializes in A/C for an estimate...most places don't charge for a quote...sounds to me like something is not in alignment causing noise and throwing belt off...hope this helps
