Chevrolet Repair/Fuel pump

Question
I have a 1994 chevy k1500 4x4 recently it has had a hard time starting. After work one day i went to start it and all it would do is crank over. i have replaced to fuel pump, right after i put the pump into the tank i hooked up the wires that run the pump and tied to start the truck so i could see if the pump worked now, it doesn't. is there some sort of fuel pump shut off switch? i couldn't find one after a friend of mine told me about it.

Answer
Hi Andrew....there is no shut off....the pump will only run for 3 seconds with the key on...there is however a relay and a fuse check both...if both are good check the circut for an open....note... even if the relay is bad the fuel pump will come on after cranking long enough to build oil pressure as the circut is routed thru the oil pressure switch...my guess would be that you have no power going to the relay so either fuse or bad circut...hope this helps
