Chevrolet Repair/transmision shift delay

Question
My '88 Chevy wagon with 88,000 mi., 305ci V8 and 700R transmission takes 2 to 4 seconds to go into drive from neutral. There is no delay going into reverse from neutral. The delay into drive is shorter, but still there, when cold and gets longer as the engine warms to operating temperature. Thank you in advance for your time and effort in diagnosing this problem

Answer
Hi Bob.... when was the last time you had the trans flushed and a new filter installed...the delay could be caused by a plugged trans filter...if you have it done and still have a delay try some lucus trans treatment. you may have some seals leaking pressure and that will help them reseal....hope this helps
