Question I am replacing a fuel sending unit and fuel filter in my 84 chevy and I have the tank out and it is somewhat rusted inside. I have vacuumed it out and have also rinsed it with the hose but there is still a lot of buildup. Is there an easy way to clean the rust out before I reinstall it?
Answer Hi Mike.... No real easy way to do that...if rust is bad ,maybe consider getting a new tank. there shouldn't be any rust inside the tank and removing it.. if it's scaley enough may put a hole in the tank...if it's just light surface rust take some rough sand paper to it then rinse it out...after you install it make sure you use a good fuel filter and change it often for the first couple months....hope this helps....
