Question
just replaced the starter solenoid in my 87 chevy r-10 pick up, starts up real good, but now squeals. it sounds as if it's coming from the solenoid or starter. really don't wanna take it all apart again, didn't much enjoy the first time. is it a new solenoid squeal, and with a little running it will go away? or is it something else? i haven't dared to leave it running for fear it may be a waering and tearing squeal.

Answer
Hi Jeremy... when you took out starter did you leave out any shims.... if starter too close to fly wheel it may stay engauged to the flywheel till the rpms kick out the starter drive. you must correct this problem as damage to the flywheel can occur and it is a far more costly experance... hope this helps
