Chevrolet Repair - 1991 Corvette hood latch

Expert: Gary Malone - 10/13/2009

Question
The battery died on the vette and when I went to open the hood to connect a battery charger the hood latch on passenger side would not open. The drivers side unhooked but just barely. How do I get the hood open and how do I fix the problem. If the hood won't open I cannot charge the battery and the car goes nowhere. Thanks for the help.

Answer
corvette runs two cables to the handle first check to see if you got lucky and it broke at the handle if so just take a pair of pliers and pull the cable. If not then the only other way is to take a coat hanger bend the end and unlatch the latch itself from the drivers side.
