i have 2000 silverado z71 4x4 it has a grinding noise that sounds like it is coming from the rear when i give it gas in drive. it does not make this noise in park when i give it gas. it sounds like metal scrapping metal. thank you

Hi Earl... could be a couple differant things... check the rear end for fluid... also check rear brakes see if the pads are wore down to metal...check to see if maybe backing plate is rubbing on the rotor or if maybe stone caught in betwen pads and rotor. remove wheels and do overall check... hope this helps
