Hi Terry....I am not sure i understand....did you replace the pan gasket and filter....if you did and it doesn't shift right you may not have filter on right...if it is ok...check fluid level... also check kick down cable for adjustment....there is a button on the cable just before it gets to the TBI  Push that button and open throttle all the way...then release button....that should set kick down cable ... hope this helps
