my pinion bearing inner was shot do i changed it, when i put the diff back in and tighten the bearing caps on sides it will hardly move if i loosen them a lil it moves half way decent, would pinion being too tight do this or am i over looking something? 373 14bolt rear 92 chevy 2500 thanx

Hi Robert... a quick quide to setting rear end lash is to put a piece of paper in between the crown and pinion...roll the paper into the gears. if it cuts the paper it is set pretty good...if it tears the paper it is too tight... i would ask your local GM dealer for the proper lash settings... you would need your Vin #...these days dealers are pretty friendy.  hope this helps
