Question How do you reset the timing on a 454 motor 7.4 liter, with a wireless distributor?
Answer Hi Paul... can't be a wireless dist on that year engine unless you have modified it. if it the single wire HEI chev dist that you mean then you would need to remove the vacum line , loosen bolt that holds dist tight, install timing light and mark harmonic balance with white chalk on the timing mark. start engine , shine timing light towards timing marks and rotate dist untill timing mark on harmonic lines up with the timing mark on timing cover. Decal on the rad shroud should tell you what the timing should be set at for that year engine IE; 6 degrees/ or 8 degrees BTC. once set then reinstall the vacum line and tighten dist bolt and you should be done....if you have said the wrong year and it is 1999 and newer then the computer controls timing all you do is set engine timing at TDC and computer does the rest...hope this helps
