Question Hi I have a 1986 GMC Suburban with a bad th700r4 and rear differential. I also have a 83-84 GMC 1/2 ton truck with a th350. Is it possible for me to swap the transmission, drive shaft and rear axle from the truck to suburban without spending spending money. thanks
Answer Hi Robert. yes you can change them ... the only problem you may have would be if wheelbase is different between trucks, then you would have a driveshaft problem...also before you change rear ends check that the perches...(mounts) on the rear end are the same and the same distance apart...or just change the guts of the rear end. if you change the guts you have to change the pinion gear...unless the rear end ratio is the same...hope this helps
