Chevrolet Repair - 2000 Silvardo 1500 stepside/air conditioner filter

Expert: Robert Summers - 6/25/2009

Question
My a/c on my truck started making a loud noise and increases in sound when you turn it higher. Sounds like blower. Can you tell me where filter for a/c is located. Is it in the dash? Any suggestions? Feels like it is not as cold either. Also when you step on brake petal the back right lite as well as front blinker lite comes on (yellow). When you take foot off it is ok. Blinker still works. Took light panel off and it is not that. Chevy dealer said it is electrical problem and wants $450 bucks to fix it??!! help on that too please. Thanks

Answer
Hi mack...cabin air filter is under the dash in the heater box....if not as cold you can buy top up kit at any parts store or wal mart. as far as your light problem goes, when you disconnect the rear lights by unpluging it does the front light come on when you apply the brakes...if not then problem is in the rear circut board, if it still does then somewhere in that circut you have the brake light feeding power into the blinker circut for that side...9 times out of 10 when that happens it is in the circut board at the rear light...try switching them from side to side and see if problem transfers to the other side , don't install them just leave hanging out....hope this helps
