Question My truck just started something funny with the brakes. Well, no so much funny as scary. When I turn my wheels all the way to the left or right and press my brake pedal to stop, the anti-locking brakes kick in and will not stop the vehicle. Twice I've had to throw my truck into reverse to keep from hitting something.
My truck is full on brake fluid. What could be causing my anti-locking brakes to kick in like that with the tires turned? It stops fine when stopping in a straight line and when the wheels are just turned slightly. Any ideas?

Answer Hi Randy... your right that is strange....the way anti lock brakes work is the wheel speed sensors tell the anti lock computer that the wheels are turning, once the sensors don't detect any movement they tell the computer that the wheels must not be turning so therefor it must kick your foot off the brake to prevent a skid....even if you arn't in one....the only thing i can think is that when turning the wheel hard one way or the other you are somehow disconecting the sensors... check wheel brg play and see if when you crank the wheel that you are creating enough play that the reluctor is too far from the sensor to read it. or that you are pulling on the wire that maybe is allowing an interuption in the sensors ability to read...i would be intrested to know if one of these is the problem....install scan tool and see if you have created any codes because of this....hope this helps
