Question
My monte has a console shifter and I couldn't get the shifter back in park while squeezing the shift lock on the side of the shifter. When I pulled the shifter boot out of the way I was able to push one of the white plastic levers down and put the shifter in park. Now to shift out of park I have to push a different lever and then you can use reverse and all the forward gears. Do you have any ideas on this problem? Thank you in advance.

Answer
Hi Carl.... you may have something broke in the plastic linkage when you push on the shift lock button....basicly you will need to remove the shifter arm and see whats broke...i haven't done one of them in a long time so my memory kinda bad on how it comes apart....i think there is a set screw you need to undo then lift shifter knob up and that should get you to the linkage....hope this helps....
