Expert: Robert Summers - 6/8/2009

Question
Hello I have a 76 chevy and my distributer is shot and I was curious what the differance was on an HEI or OEM distributer and what is the best application for me? my truck is mainly stock except for a lunati cam and an edelbrock carb.
Thanks

Answer
Hi Garrett... you can use a new style HEI dist just take the power side of the coil off and run that to your new dist connect to the + at the dist... you will need to change your plugs and wires as the plugs for that hei system have a wider gap....but truck should run fine....hope this helps
