Chevrolet Repair - air conditioner compressor

Expert: Robert Summers - 6/12/2009

Question
have a 1998 s-10 v-6,automatic, two wheel drive.  freon leaked out during winter.compressor was recycling on and off very fast.  put in 134a freon.guage now reads 25 with cold air but compressor runs continous.  will not cut off.  help.  thanks

Answer
Hi Rodney. you may need a new pressure switch. or check that when you turn the air off that the switch is not still live to the compressor clutch. with air off there should be no power to the connector at the commpressor. if still live you may need to change switch...hope this helps
