Question
i recently bought a 94 chevy caviler. the transmission dose not shift into any gear unless you shift down to first gear than back to drive or reverse first. once in drive you have to wind the car out to like 30 mile an hour before it shifts to second and like 60 to get into drive. once the car slows back to around 50 45 it shifts itself into second again. it dose not slip but the fluid smells some what burnt. how can i fix this. do i have to remove The transmission. replace? i know its probably the selionds but where are they can i get to them easy. threw the drivers side. thanks for your time. i really do apricaite it

Answer
Hi Joseph.... the shift solonids are inside trans and it would half to be removed and tore down to gain axcess to them, the only thing i can think to try before you do that is try another computer first and see if it shifts better. if not it will need to be removed and repaired....hope this helps
