Question I have a 96 Monte Carlo that once started will drive for awhile then will start sputtering. I have had it checked out by three different places all the diagnostics say there is nothing wrong, my mechanic says he thinks its that there is a stock alarm and an after market alarm and they are conflicting telling each other the car is being stolen, could this happen and if so can I just disconnect one of them?
Answer Hi tracie... i don't have a huge amount of experance with alarm systems, but that could be true...disable both alarms and see if that solves the problem...if that doesn't help i would look at the ign system... check that the ign module is ok after it gets warm...the module could be breaking down after warm up...same goes for the ign coil....check to see if these parts may be heat sinking after they get warmed up...i would be more inclined to believe that it is an ign problem rather than an alarm problem...hope this helps
