Question i own a 91 camaro rs with a 305 engine. i have knocking sound in my engine. i initially thought it was an octane knock but i know thats not the problem. What do you think it could be?
Answer Hi Gerald... well whatever it is it won't bee good, does knock get louder as you increase rpm. f it does it is probably a rod knock. which means you will need to either rebuild that engine or install another one. if you do nothing and continue to run this engine if it is rod knock it will eventualy either break the rod or engine will sieze up. now it could also be a wrist pin knock. still bad but no quite as bad as rod knock... my suggestion would be to seek out a shop with a good reputation and have it checked. it masy not be either of those but that is where i would start looking...hope this helps
