Chevrolet Repair/1995 chevy silverado : how to disarm the alarm

Question
I need to know how to disarm the alarm in my truck. I just
replaced the battery because that battery had died. now
every time I reconnect the positive and negative cables, the
alarm sounds and after a minute shuts off. If I touch the
truck it goes off again. I am at a loss of what to even do
to turn it off; under the dashboard, under the steering
wheel theres a switch and a button. I think that controls
the alarm but I'm not sure. If you could help me out that
would be great.

Answer
Is it a factory or aftermarket alarm? It would have a valet switch if it is an aftermarket alarm and that is normally a really small button located under the drivers side of the dash down by the OBD II connector. Normally you would hook the battery up, put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position and press that button until it stops honking.
