Chevrolet Repair/92 chevy 2500 fuel pump?

Question
My truck has been running fine until today. I went to start it and no go. I checked the spark, fuel pump fuse, fuel pump relay and all is good. Poured a little gas down the TB and the truck started breify. Is there any thing else to check before pulling the tank and fuel pump? Which fuel pump would be the best replacement if needed? Is there any thing else to look out for when replacing the fuel pump?

Thanks in advance,

Answer
Hi Bill,
You need to make sure power is getting to the fuel pump connector first. If power gets back there when the switch is turned on, then think fuel pump.
it may be possible to jar the pump into working by laying down under the truck, and just as someone turns the key to run, or start, smack the middle of the bottom of the fuel tank with your hand.

There is the possibility of loose connections inside the tank also, so if you do replace the pump, be sure to check the rivets through the top, where the wires connect.

I have been maintaining a fleet of approximately 55 light, medium and heavy vehicles for over 20 years. Most are 4X4 pickups and off road fire fighting trucks. Some medium duty trucks. Some military light trucks. I can answer most questions concerning 4X4 engine, drive line, suspension, electrical, and fuel, both diesel and gasoline. Ford, GM, and Dodge, old and new, but prefferably not newer than 99.
