Question
I had the water pump and serpentine belt replaced on my car last year. Now my car is making a loud winding noise and clicking coming from the same area as where the water pump is located. It is not constant but can be loud at times especially when it is cold. There are no visible fluid leaks. I found pieces of the old belt that were left behind jamed in the area and removed them. Do you think that there could be more pieces of the old belt causing the noise or could my water pump need to be replaced again?

Answer
Hi Kim, Hard to say if the pump is bad again. I would listen to the other componants first like the idler pulley, alternator and tensioner pulley. The pump is in the front so if it sounds to be coming from there I would replace the waterpump.

Hope this helps
