I have a 1985 Chevy Caprice Classic with a 305 V8. When I start the car it will turn over and start but will die out when i let off the gas.

Hi Antiwan.... i take it this is carb engine...see if choke is closed on cold start. if not close it. when it starts it should bump to fast idle, via fast idle solonid. if it doesn't check for power at the solonid.if no power repair circut. if power solonid may be defective.if you don't have a fast idle soionid it could be fast idle is set by a cam on the throttle linkage, make sure it is not jammed or siezed.... hope this helps
