Question
My curtesy lights stay on after I close the doors, I know that they're supposed to go off after 15 seconds. I pulled the fuse which also controls the rear window lock. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thank You,
Don Lebel

Answer
Hello Don,
First, don't think I am demeaning you, because this happened to my Dad this past weekend, but have you checked to see if they are turned on with the light switch?
If not, then there is a possibility that one of the door switches is bad, or the wire is shorted, since it is a ground wire that goes to the door switches.
Also, check the rear hatch to make sure it is properly latched.

I have been maintaining a fleet of approximately 55 light, medium and heavy vehicles for over 20 years. Most are 4X4 pickups and off road fire fighting trucks. Some medium duty trucks. Some military light trucks. I can answer most questions concerning 4X4 engine, drive line, suspension, electrical, and fuel, both diesel and gasoline. Ford, GM, and Dodge, old and new, but prefferably not newer than 99.
