Chevrolet Repair/Electrical problem with 98 S10

Question
We have a 98 S10, 2.2L, that has a starting problem. It is not the battery, we had a new starter put on, and it still has a problem. Once in a while it will start.  This is a standard transmission. Most of the time it does nothing. No clicking, no nothing. What all should we check out. We don't know much about working on them, but can't afford to take it to a mechanic. Thank you for any advice you can offer.

Answer
Hello Charlotte,
There is a switch near the clutch pedal that senses when the clutch is pressed down. make sure the wires on it are good, and make sure the switch is good.
Check all wire connections between the ignition switch, and the starter.
And make sure the wires at the starter are tight.
A loose fuse could also cause it.

Expertise

I have been maintaining a fleet of approximately 55 light, medium and heavy vehicles for over 20 years. Most are 4X4 pickups and off road fire fighting trucks. Some medium duty trucks. Some military light trucks. I can answer most questions concerning 4X4 engine, drive line, suspension, electrical, and fuel, both diesel and gasoline. Ford, GM, and Dodge, old and new, but prefferably not newer than 99.
