Chevrolet Repair/Engine problem

Question
I have a 1995 Chevrolet S-10 pickup with a 4 cyl. 2.2L with throtle body fuel injection. The engine is running really rough and when I check the oil, it feels thin and gritty and smells of gas. What would cause gas to be in with the oil? (I know on older vehicles with mechanical fuel pumps there could be a hole in the pump diaphram, but this truck has an electric fuel pump.)

Answer
Hi Kurt... you could have a flooding problem, maybe a bad inj...this would cause it to run rough as well. hook up a scan tool and see what codes are there. if you change the inj. change the oil as well. the gas in the oil will send the O2 sensor out of range. also make sure that the cat converter is not plugged or damaged from the excess fuel...hope this helps
