Question
Hi, My daughter has a 2000 Chevy Malibu that has one of those floor pedals to set the parking break. Hers hardly ever engages to set the brake.  Sometimes if you patient and sit in the car and press the pedal 50 or so times you make get lucky and it will engage. How do I make this work correctly?  Thank you....AL

Answer
Either the latch assembly up under the dash ON the mechanism is stuck and or if it is released by vacuum when you shift the vehicle out of the PARK postion after you engage it, the vacuum release unit usually mounted on the steering column under the dash may be faulty or mis-adjusted.
