Question
Mark,
This just started to happen...
I have a 2001 Silverado 1500 4X4 and when I'm driving the instrument pannel displays are blanking out (reading zero or low).  At first this just happened on the fuel guage but now it is happened on fuel only.  This morning the odometer display and gear select went blank and all guages stopped working.  After a certian time the guages started working. What gives?
Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hi Ken, You might have a couple problems here. The fuel gauge problem is the level sensor in the tank. The rest is most likely the cluster assembly. You should replace the cluster and see if that cures the fuel gauge problem too. If not then you'll need to replace the level sensor.

Hope this helps
