Chevrolet Repair/Truck wont start

Question
I have a 1996 Chev S-10 truck with a 4.3L engine that stalled while driving down the road. I can hear the fuel pump run when I cycle the key. The battery is fully charged and the truck turns over fine but won't start. I poured a small amount of gas down into the intake and it starts and runs until the gas is used up. Do you think the fuel filter is plugged? It made no hesitations before stalling. Thanks

Answer
Hi Mike,
Very possibly the filter, but there is another thought.
Inside the tank, where the pump connects to the fuel line, there is a little hose connection. If it split or came off....no fuel.
I would first remove the filter, and check for pressure from the fuel line. Needs to be 13 PSI.

Injector fuse is another thing to check.

I have been maintaining a fleet of approximately 55 light, medium and heavy vehicles for over 20 years. Most are 4X4 pickups and off road fire fighting trucks. Some medium duty trucks. Some military light trucks. I can answer most questions concerning 4X4 engine, drive line, suspension, electrical, and fuel, both diesel and gasoline. Ford, GM, and Dodge, old and new, but prefferably not newer than 99.
