Question
I own a 1993 Chevy Van (G20. Recently the serpetine belt came off.  When we went to repair it we found that the alternator was moving.  Where the bolts go into the bracket that holds the alternator in place was busted.  I am having a hard time finding a new or used bracket

Answer
Hello Sharon,
A salvage yard should have one. If that is the route you want to go, and can't find one at a local yard, contact Beville Auto Salvage, in Lawton, Oklahoma. I would bet they will have one. They only salvage GM vehicles.

Another possibility would be to look in J.C.Whitney. I am almost sure they would have one, but it might be chrome plated, and more than you want to spend.

I will also give you a link for a forum site for GM enthusiasts. There is a link on that site for parts, and someone can help find almost anything. The site is free, but you will need to sign in to ask questions. Totally free, and a great site.

I have been maintaining a fleet of approximately 55 light, medium and heavy vehicles for over 20 years. Most are 4X4 pickups and off road fire fighting trucks. Some medium duty trucks. Some military light trucks. I can answer most questions concerning 4X4 engine, drive line, suspension, electrical, and fuel, both diesel and gasoline. Ford, GM, and Dodge, old and new, but prefferably not newer than 99.
