Expertise
I have been maintaining a fleet of approximately 55 light, medium and heavy vehicles for over 20 years. Most are 4X4 pickups and off road fire fighting trucks. Some medium duty trucks. Some military light trucks. I can answer most questions concerning 4X4 engine, drive line, suspension, electrical, and fuel, both diesel and gasoline. Ford, GM, and Dodge, old and new, but prefferably not newer than 99.

Chevrolet Repair - car won't start

Expert: Van - 11/4/2005

Question
Chevrolet Suburban 1999 1500 83,000 miles...
has run excellently...suddenly will not start...battery is strong...starter turns over nornally...but engine doesn't seem to be getting fuel and there is no ignition.

Thank you, RH

Answer
Hello Robert,
Check the fuses first, especially one marked ign or fuel pump.
You should be able to hear the pump in the tank run for a few seconds when the key is turned to run.
A fuel pressure test will verify if it is running.
But the fuses are what I would check first.
