Question
I have a 1979 camaro with a big block 427 and my battery light is on so i had my altenator checked and it is good and i can't find the problem.

Answer
Hi Kenneth... output of the alt should be around 14.1 14.2 volts. check the large terminal at the alt for this as well as at the battery. reading should be the same or really close if not trace that wire for the open in it. on some of those camaros there is a plastic block on the firewall where it leads to check for a bad connection there, also check battery terminals for bad connections and check grounds from engine to chassie and chassie to battery ground... hope this helps... merry christmas
