Question 1991 Chev Caprice 5L V8 AT. Spedometer and odometer don't operate for as much as the first 10 miles in the morning, and sometimes after it has been parked for a while it takes a few miles before it kicks in. What should i check and or replace to fix this problem?
Answer Hi Will, This could be in the speedometer or the speed sensor in the transmission. I would first look at the connection at the transmisssion. If that was good I would drive the car and hit the top of the dash where the speedometer is to see if you can get it to work. If it works after a hit the problem is in the dash. If not try replacing the speed sensor in the trans.
