Question
how can I gain access to the heater core for replacment, I have removed the following idems. stock radio ,heat-a/c contol panel, glove box door, cover panels-upper & lower I am out of interior parts I can remove. can you give this feeling real OLD heavy equipment diesel tech of fourty years, instuction for the "proper" steps needed to preform this task in a timly manner. short of pulling engine and using liquid wrench modification of firewall for inspection panel!   THANK YOU very much for your support and professional advice with this issue.

Answer
Ouch, Randy!!
Here is a quote from the manual.
"The dash removal proceedure required to access the heater core housing behind the dash is a difficult proceedure because of the number of hidden screws and the many wiring connectors that must be tagged and disconnected. Once the dash is removed, however, the remainder of the heater core removal proceedure is straightforeward."

Then it goes on to show some of the more hidden screws, so a trip to the public library, refference section, to make a copy from a manual, would be a good idea.

I have been maintaining a fleet of approximately 55 light, medium and heavy vehicles for over 20 years. Most are 4X4 pickups and off road fire fighting trucks. Some medium duty trucks. Some military light trucks. I can answer most questions concerning 4X4 engine, drive line, suspension, electrical, and fuel, both diesel and gasoline. Ford, GM, and Dodge, old and new, but prefferably not newer than 99.
