Chevrolet Repair - loss of clutch 2001HD

Expert: Mark Bisig - 11/14/2005

Question
My 2001 2500HD clutch suddenly lost pressure. It never had previous problems. I decided to pump it and it came back it lost pressure after about 10min. I checked fluid level and seems to be a little low. any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Paul, This could be either the clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder. The first thing to is to look for leaks at both. If one is leaking then replace it and see if that cures the problem. The master cylinder is easy to replace unlike the slave which you need to pull the transmission.
