Question
my1990 gmc 350 4x4 1500 turns over but wont start a strong gas smell and when i can get it started it seems to be pouring gas in car and running fast like the choke is stuck

Answer
Hello Andy,
The throttle body has some gaskets and seals, and some seals under the injectors, any of which could leak and do just that.
Not at all hard to repair.
Take the air cleaner off, and look in the throttle body as someone turns the key to RUN...not start.
The fuel pump should run for three seconds, and you should be able to see where it is leaking.

I have been maintaining a fleet of approximately 55 light, medium and heavy vehicles for over 20 years. Most are 4X4 pickups and off road fire fighting trucks. Some medium duty trucks. Some military light trucks. I can answer most questions concerning 4X4 engine, drive line, suspension, electrical, and fuel, both diesel and gasoline. Ford, GM, and Dodge, old and new, but prefferably not newer than 99.
