About Van Expertise I have been maintaining a fleet of approximately 55 light, medium and heavy vehicles for over 20 years. Most are 4X4 pickups and off road fire fighting trucks. Some medium duty trucks. Some military light trucks.
I can answer most questions concerning 4X4 engine, drive line, suspension, electrical, and fuel, both diesel and gasoline. Ford, GM, and Dodge, old and new, but prefferably not newer than 99.
Question How do you replace the electric window motor in a 87 chevy pickup truck?
Answer Hi Tom,
You need to remove the inside door panel, and then drill out some rivets.
You can replace the rivets with bolts and nuts.
Not a fun task, but it can be done in the driveway.
I assume you have checked the switches?
The wires to the motor are switched voltage AND ground. The motor is not externally grounded. So if one of the switches has a bad contact, the new motor won't work either. The switch must also provide the ground.
If you can unplug the connector at the motor, use a test light from one wire to the other, and the light should light in both up and down direction of the switch.
