Question
I have a 95 Chevy z71 and it will not go in four wheel drive.  The fuse in the fuse box is good.  I got the truck stuck in a mud puddle where it sat for 2hrs.  After that, is when I noticed it stopped working.  I put the truck in nuetral then hit the lever for 4x4, but it does not engage, the light for 4x4 never comes on.  Any possible ideas would be appreciated.

Answer
Hi Matt,
Sounds like you may have unplugged the wires to the front axle actuator, or broke one of them.
Look behind, or slightly above, the right side front axle tube, and you should see a couple connectors...about four wires.
Make sure they are connected, and in good shape.
After that, I would check the actuator.
Here is a link that can help troubleshoot that, but don't just run out and buy one. I still use the stock actuators.
But the troubleshooting proceedure is pretty good.
But check your wires first. Might check one of them for power also....12 Volts with the key on, and transfer case in 4X4.

But just sitting in a puddle shouldn't have hurt the actuator.
