Answer
Ellen - Sorry about the delay in responding. I was out of town on vacation celebrating my younger son's birthday.
The only book that I can think of that is close is The Monsters of the Midway by Jim Dent. It's about Bronco Nagurski and a 1940's Bears Championship team which was anything but glamorous. You can find it here:
<http://www.amazon.com/Monster-Midway-Nagurski-Greatest-Comeback/dp/031230868X/sr=8-2/qid=1163867543/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/102-5785950-4736103?ie=UTF8&s=books>
Or go to www.amazon.com and put "Monsters of the Midway" in the search field. Hope that's the one you are looking for.
