Question I have 5 children ages; 6 months,2 years old, 4 years old, 7 years old and 8 years old. I have a big land all gated in. I have 3 cats in my barn and one of them is pregnant. I also have a Teacup puppy in my house and I wanted to get 2 Chihuahua dogs. I wanted to know if they are safe around children and if they are okay with other animals? I also wanted to breed them but I never had Chihuahua dogs before! Im just not quite sure if they are safe with children and if its hard to breed them together?
Answer Hi, Lisa. Chihuahuas are VERY fragile. I don't recommend leaving one of your children and your teacup Chihuahua alone. Being so small, teacups are even more fragile. And with the fence, my Chihuahua has dug under our fence before. If it is a wire or wood fence, make sure that if you let him outside regularly(and you should, puppies need a nice open place to run around), that your fence touches the ground, and is not hurtful to your Chihuahua. (rusty wire, sharp wire, splinters, ect.) Also, I recommend filling the place around where the fence touches the ground with clay or hard soil. Are you breeding for show, or something else? Please send me a follow- up and tell me. I would REALLY like to know.
