Subject: Question about getting my chihuahua and cat to get along!

Question
Hi, you probably don't remember me, but I asked you a question a while ago about my 5 year old chihuahua named Link. And he is now going on his puppy pads, too. That was the question I asked you about before. Thanks for the advice, it worked great! Well, anyways, we just recently brought a cat that will be 2 in August. The cat is terrified of our chihuahua and our dog keeps growling at our cat. Is there any easy way to try to get our chihuahua and cat to actually get along with each other? Will they eventually grow to like each other? We recently got another chihuahua (female) that is about 7 months old and she also keeps barking at our cat. Can you please help me! How can I make them get along? Should I enforce it or something, like put them together to get to know each other or should I keep them separated and let them get to know each other on their own? Our 7 month old chihuahua and our 5 year old chihuahua get along great, but it's the cat that they can't stand. Our chihuahuas actually share a cage together when they go to sleep at night. Do you know anything about how to get cats to not be so terrified? I read on the internet that chihuahuas get along better with cats than with different breed dogs. Is that true? It doesn't seem to be true for our situation. Please help me! I'm desperate. Thank you in advance for your help!

Sincerely,
Tanya Thurmes

Answer
Hi Tanya, actually I do remember you, and thank you for coming back to ask another question! I enjoy hearing from people, because I get lonely easily. But, They should get along, if you keep them in a room (large, like a kitchen or living room.) together, under supervision. Or if you try this, and don't see any change, let them roam free, and get to know each other. Let me know how this works!
