Question
Hi, My wife is pregnant and presently 20weeks pregnant. She is under treatment with my family doctor with regular monthly checkups. At present she is being given Iron tablets, Calcium tablets and Zincovit(zinc) tablets. She is having no major problems...but often she complains that she is having bit of white discharge...whenever she sits on the floor and gets strained. When told about this to our doctor...she said that it is not at all a problem and quite normal. What do you say? Is there something she should care about?

Answer
Nagamahesh,

Increased discharge during pregnancy is completely normal. It shouldn't be a cause for concern unless accompanied by other symptoms, such as bleeding, pain, or a foul smell.

So unless she is experiencing other complication, white discharge by itself is normal.

Best,
Catherine
