Childbirth/vaginal pain after urinating

Question
Hi,

Im 16 weeks pregnant with my first child and for the last couple of days i have had mild vaginal pain after urinating. Its not a burning sensation and there is no blood or strange discharge. The pain only seems to last for about 10 minutes after urination and then goes away again. I also feel like my bladder is full again quite soon after.I have had a UTI and cystitis before and this feels nothing like either of them. Could this just be ligaments stretching or is it too early for me to be feeling that?

Answer
Ali,

It is possible to be feeling ligament stretching at this time however, the symptoms you describe are not likely to be ligament stretching since it is only occurring after you urinate.

It is possible that this may be a bladder infection or some other sort of infection.  It could also be related to the baby's position if extra pressure is being exerted on your bladder.

In this case, it's best to visit your doctor to rule out infection.

Best,
